In this project, I led a team of 4 to develop a specialized medical product prototype. This device was used to assist in applying splints to broken or sprained arms/legs using thermo-mold plastic. This technology improves off of previous technologies by providing a consistent and repeatable pressure over the length of the splint, ensuring a good mold to the patient’s arm/leg. This better form ensures that patients heal faster and avoid pain. We generated several prototypes of this technology, utilizing multiple different materials in our testing. We also performed pressure testing and other demonstration tests to prove product viability. As a result, our team successfully demonstrated the viability of a new medical prototype with immediate market utility in the medical industry.
